Air Control Techniques, P.C. has developed a photochemical system to
destroy tetra-octa substituted polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and
polychlorinated dibenzofurans (dioxin-furans) in industrial gas
streams. The system operates by accelerating naturally occurring
chemical reactions to ensure that the dioxin-furan concentrations are
minimized prior to release from the stack. The necessary equipment can
be retrofitted into existing air pollution control systems. Air Control
Techniques, P.C. has established an agreement with Penta Engineering
Corporation to provide detailed engineering design services. Photochemical control systems should be installed only after means
to suppress dioxin-furan formation by gas stream temperature reduction
or raw material substitution are infeasible or economically
unreasonable. Air Control Techniques, P.C. can help industrial clients
determine when dioxin-furan control can be achieved solely through
these process modifications and when supplemental control using
photochemistry is needed.
