Air Control Techniques, P.C. personnel designed a comprehensive emission testing program and precipitator evaluation program to identify factors contributing to a continuous secondary plume at a utility coal-fired boiler. Based on continuous sulfuric acid vapor concentration measurements, Air Control Techniques, P.C. determined that the plume was due to non-uniform distribution of sulfuric acid vapor from a flyash conditioning system. The distribution problem was corrected based on improvements to the precipitator conditioning system and inlet plenum.
